Ireland the Gateway to Adventure

Ireland is a gem of its own, but with ample opportunities to explore the rest of Europe, Ireland is a fabulous choice for many students to study abroad and earn experiences they might have never had. Like many other international students, I have been able to explore more than ever. Affordability to fly anywhere in Europe from Dublin and even smaller airports like Knock (Ireland West Airport) makes travel easy and convenient.

At the Institute of Technology, Sligo there are many breaks throughout the school year to be able to explore, plus opportunities to utilize Friday's off offered in most programs. Weekend travel can be affordable with many flights leaving early Friday and with return Sunday morning to midday.

During the first semester, I was able to travel to The Netherlands and Belgium during the reading week. I also went on weekend trips to Portugal and England. Similar to most schools there is two weeks off for Christmas break, providing you the opportunity to travel more for extra exploration or travel home for the holidays.

Second semester fresh off exams brought forth another opportunity to travel before the start of the new semester. While on break I took a short trip to explore Scotland, encouraging ideas for the destination of the next trip. During Easter, students are given two full weeks off aka two full weeks to travel! Here is my excuse to visit a bucket list location in Italy, because Italian food is the food of the soul. With additional travel to Switzerland and back to the Netherlands. Celebrating finishing 4th-year exams by traveling to 3 new countries before flying back to Canada.

Being from North America, almost none of this would have been possible without taking my leap of faith of going to Ireland, the gateway to my Europe!
